I can’t understand the good reviews for this, because what little I could even get through sounded like it was written by an 8yo. In just the first few pages of the first story we’re told of a “foundling” who was actually a kidnapping victim. Stolen from famous and wealthy parents by her nanny, adopted by famous and wealthy parents from another city, found with an expensive gold necklace engraved with important dates - does the author really think none of this would’ve been newsworthy? Did the “adoptive” parents make any attempt whatsoever to find the baby’s family before deciding to keep her as their own? And I’m not even getting into the grammatical errors. If this is the story they’re leading off with, I have no hope of it getting any better. This collection will be deleted ASAP.

I really enjoyed this group of stories. I would definitely recommend them if you like to read different genres ina collection. This is why I like to purchase groups of books when I can,plus it's a very good way to meet new authors.

I always enjoy Hannah Schrock books. The drama, love and expert way they are written and researched. I look for new books.

Such a pleasant find with amazon and quite enjoyable to spend time with these authors. This is romance at its best and I wouldn’t be ashamed to share with my mother in law, another avid reader. Proves for me that explicit sex scenes are not necessary for good story telling!

About the Author

Jon Hershfield, MFT, is director of The OCD and Anxiety Center of Greater Baltimore in Hunt Valley, MD. He specializes in the mindfulness-based and cognitive behavioral treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and is licensed in the states of Maryland, Virginia, and California. Hershfield is coauthor of The Mindfulness Workbook for OCD, and author of When a Family Member Has OCD. He is a frequent presenter at the annual conferences of both the International OCD Foundation and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and a professional contributor to multiple online OCD-related support groups and blogs.Shala Nicely, LPC, is a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) therapist in metro Atlanta, GA, specializing in the treatment of OCD and related disorders. Hands down one of the best books on dealing with OCD that I have came across, so when I saw this little book by Jon I jumped to get it. It is 196 pages but about half the size of the mindfulness workbook. Which I personally like because I can pack it in my purses.I really like the fact that this book reframe so to speak meditation, in that your not trying to clear your mind as much as observe it. As noted in the book having the goal to clear your mind can be futile for those wIth thought disorders.This is a great guide to go along with the mindfulness book and also as a stand alone text. Some of the exercise presented may be a little difficult for those who haven't meditated before to grasp. For me personally when learning to meditate it was always more helpful to have an actual voice recording or live person to help guide me and provide gentle reminders.But I think Jon and Shala did a very thorough job in communicating posture and what an overall meditation session should be.I love the compassion section as well. For those dealing with mental disorders self compassion can be overlooked even when seeking therapy. But it is crucial toPractice compassion. I feel a book like this is needed because it helps you deal with the other issues of guilt, and low self esteem that may come along with mental disorders.As most books help you deal with the disorder itself and not the (collateral damage)so to speak, it can cause in its presence.Overall this book IMHO is not just for those with OCD but can be used for a wide range of mental disorders. And for those without a disorder but is easily anxious, and stressed.

This book is truly amazing and life-changing. It is helping me to experience so much more self-kindness, self-compassion and joy. I couldn't put it down, and finished it within a few hours. I'm now re-reading over and over. It will be truly supportive for the years to come. I have attacked myself so much for having OCD. I have been so unkind, unloving - my own worst enemy. The authors are helping me to completely recontextualize the experience of having OCD.The authors speak of OCD mastery, which in itself, is an evolutionary concept, and revolutionary in the mind of the OCDer. I have felt like a victim of OCD for so long. Now, learning about OCD mastery kindles new energy, courage, committment and gratitude for the opportunity for mastery. It has been said that our greatest difficulty is our greatest treasure, in disguise. I have trusted that this is true, but I have not yet lived beyond a place where OCD feels like a curse. However, in this book, the authors provide the tools and mindset to transform this challenge of OCD into a journey of bravery, courage, strength, compassion and healing.From reading this book you will absorb the mindset and approach to make living with OCD a joy, rather than a battle for survival. For me, for a long time, I have been struggling through each day, just surviving. I have used some treatment tools in the past, and have had relative success using them. However, I never got past the point of "just surviving" and I have felt threatened by OCD everyday. I was not flourishing. This book provides the tools to flourish in life with OCD. It spells out the mindset needed to live joyfully with OCD.It is not an overnight change, but one of gentle mindfulness, committment to the tools provided, an understanding and acceptance of the disorder, and the willingness to choose self-compassion rather than self-attack. I know I have the tools now to love myself and stand up to my OCD. I have a bit more space to breath, and I have a lighter bounce in my step. I'm sure that these two will expand as I continue practicing the tools.

Have been using these tips and have helped me a lot. these 2 authors are really the top OCD experts who will teach you in very simple terms how you can stay one step ahead of your OCD. You’ll learn about the world of mindfulness, and how living in the present moment non-judgmentally is so important when you have OCD. You’ll also explore the concept of self-compassion—what it is, what it isn’t, how to use it, and why people with OCD benefit from it. Finally, you’ll discover daily games, tips, and tricks for outsmarting your OCD, meditations and mindfulness exercises, and much, much moreot. Loved the style and humor in this book. Definitely one of the best book on OCD I have read.

This is an absolutely fantastic self-help book for folks with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I have severe, pure-obsessional OCD where my thoughts bother me pretty much where I go. From the opening words, this book feels like it is written by two people who know what it is like to live with this very, potentially disabling condition. And the insights about how OCD works ring very true. I think it does a very good job of helping the patient try reestablish their relationship, day by day, thought by thought, with their OCD to reduce the power it has over us. It also is compassionate and its final paragraph is probably the most comforting words I've read about OCD.This book is portable and very much worth checking out. Highly recommended.

An absolute total refutation of "Faith Alone" I read James white's book "The God Who Justifies" along with this book. It was an absolute no contest. Dr. Sungenis covers EVERYTHING in scripture about salvation. White's book basically only covers Romans, Galatians, Ephesians and James. If you really want to see what I mean read White's book's chapter on James 2 which states: "Man is justified by works and not by faith alone" and you'll see him twist and contort scripture to try to fit his false theology.

Born & raised a Protestant I was interested in the Catholic view of Justification. This book was instrumental in causing me to start examining the claims of the Catholic church and overcome my anti-Catholic fundamentalism I was born & raised in.I will be welcomed home Easter Vigil 2019.

Sungennis gives the "big picture" of the Catholic doctrine on justification. One minute apologetics and short internet articles can only accomplish so much and often fail to get to the underlying issues. Sungennis, a former Calvinist, puts what appears to be a whole lifetime worth of scholarly thought and research into this book. Although the subject of how one is justified could probably never be completely exhausted, Sungennis has a good go at it.In the first three chapters, Sungennis looks at Catholic soteriology in light of the teachings of Paul, James, and Jesus. He presents and analyzes countless passages that vouch for Catholic teaching and looks at passages that Protestants say teach faith alone theology. He critiques many protestant arguments and builds an impressive case for the Catholic view on how works fit into our salvation. Interspersed throughout the book is a discussion on how many famous Old Testament figures were justified. He spends considerable time on Paul and James' commentary on these Old Testament characters of which Abraham is most often discussed. He really helped the story of Abraham come to life for me, and actually gave me a greater appreciation of God's plan for us and the heroism of Abraham.Of the arguments he employs throughout the book, much of them hit the nail right on the head and, even though I'm a Catholic and certainly have my biases, I think would be very difficult to refute. At other times with certain difficult scripture verses or arguments taken in isolation, he adequately explains how the Catholic interpretation fits into the verse without completely shutting the door on alternative interpretations. In these situations, he tries to bring in both the immediate and larger context that the verse is set in. Ultimately, throughout the book he relentlessly brings torrents of scriptural evidence proving different facets of the Catholic teaching and thus, after seeing the big picture, I think the reader might by willing to believe Sungennis's interpretations of these "toss-up" verses.In the next chapters he explains different facets of the Catholic teaching on justification. Namely, that justification is a process (not a one time event), a familial restoration (not a courtroom acquittal), and an infusion of grace (not a mere forensic covering). In these chapters, I was really able to see how it all fits together in Catholic theology.Considering the difficulty of the topic of predestination, he does a good job setting up the parameters of what the Church teaches on predestination and free will, while critiquing the reformers' various views. This chapter segues into the chapter where he looks at many different personalities of the reformation and, very intentionally, points out some of their more extreme views (with plenty of footnotes) and shows the disharmony and infighting that plagued them as they struggled to work through the details of their theology. Sungennis stated that (I'm paraphrasing) it was his goal that as Protestants see the discord of the reformation that they might take a second look at what they believe.Aside from a few nitpicky things not worth mentioning, I thought that one thing that would have improved the book is a longer discussion on the theology of the cross and a comparison between Catholic and Protestant views on just exactly what the death and resurrection of Christ accomplished. He spends some time on this, but I could have used more - maybe ten to fifteen pages would have been nice.I highly recommend this book to all Christians. It's long but it's well worth spending a little time on this subject and getting it right. I think that all but the most ardent Protestants will find this book convincing, and at the very least will have a new found respect for the Catholic teaching.

Quite an eye opener. The discussion of Paul's concept of faith and good works was illuminating and totally different that I had been taught previously. This was especially evident in his discussion of the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. His section of the role of the Commandments should have been obvious to me, but wasn't. It is quite a theological work!

I am not sure if Robert Sungenis would appreciate a positive review of his work on Justification, *Not by Faith Alone* from an active, practicing member of the LDS Church ("Mormonism"), but here goes--this volume is a wonderful resource for those interested in Justification and important issues relating to the debate, both historically and in modern times.With careful rigour, Sungenis refutes the long-standing arguments of Protestant, especially Reformed, theologians and apologists, such as Calvin, Luther, Sproul, White, Zins et al., demonstrating that (1) the Bible does not support the concept of Justification being an external, once-for-all event; (2) that the concept of alien imputed righteousness is foreign to the biblical texts; (3) in some way (though not in a legalistic manner), works do indeed justify, as seen in the case of Phinehas in Ps 106 (cf. Num 25) and both Abraham and Rahab (cf. James 2 [Sungenis also refutes the argument that the noun form of the verb dikaioO in James 2 refers to vindication, not salvific justification) and that the judgment according to one's works in New Testament passages are not merely about rewards in the life to come, but also scenes that determine where one will spend eternity, among many other issues.This is a wonderful volume, and one would do well to study it. Do note, however, that Sungenis does not deal in great detail with the New Perspective on Paul, a movement that refutes the historical Protestant interpretation (read: eisegesis) of Paul, so one should look elsewhere for the NPP (see the works of NT Wright; Dunn and others on this issue). However, notwithstanding this, do buy this book!Alongside this volume, I do suggest Chris Vanlandingham's 2006 book published by Hendrickson, "Judgment and Justification in Early Judaism and the Apostle Paul."

About the Author

Erin ClaboughErin Clabough is a mother of four who holds a PhD in neuroscience. Her parenting style has been highly influenced by her background in brain development research. She teaches biology and neuroscience, and heads an active research program that investigates questions about how the brain functions, including developmental areas such as fetal alcohol syndrome and lifespan topics such as neurodegenerative disease. She is also interested in incorporating neuroscience principles into the classroom, in service learning, and in providing hands-on learning experiences to students of all ages. She participated in a developmental cognitive neuroscience program at the University of Denver, where she was involved in Down syndrome, autism, and schizophrenia research. Erin received her PhD in neuroscience from University of Virginia in 2006, specializing in the molecular genetics of neurodegeneration. She subsequently held a three-year postdoctoral research position at the University of Virginia. Her scientific research has resulted in many peer-reviewed journal articles. She writes for Psychology Today, mindbodygreen,TODAY Parenting, and other publications.

He lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Chris Chelios was a defenseman who played in the NHL for 26 seasons for the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and Atlanta Thrashers. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013 and won three Stanley Cups. He is currently the executive advisor to general manager of the Detroit Red Wings. Another great book by JR...Really enjoyed JR's first book, was excited to see he had written a follow up book...tons of great hockey and golf anecdotes and honest no holds barred opinions from JR on hockey and life in general.....Like his first book, many hilarious stories that will have you laughing out loud.,Couldn't put it down. finished it in two sittings. Great job JR...thanks for another super entertaining read..

Just love the honesty and the stories. Jr is a really decent guy who is not afraid to share so many important moments from his life. He leaves everything out there. The stories in this book are great. If you liked his first book, you'll love this one.

Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish... Felt like I was sitting in a bar with the man listening to him reflect back on his career and life telling it like it is, the good, the bad and everything in between. To be honest much more than I was expecting - thanks for letting us in JR :)

JR wants to own and run a hockey team. This was an open letter to the commish about what a great guy he is, not necessarily was and what a great Parents he and his wife, Tracey are, how he would run a hockey team and what great respect he has for Bettman.

4 Chapters in and I hate it...all I can say is who in the hell cares what his daughter has done in life????

This is a nice slice of history as well as an inspirational tale. Great writing by a great guy. Even non-hockey fans can learn something from this. Some of this is philosophy for life and building character.

I have purchased this brand calendar for about 5-6 years now. They used to be a 12-month calendar, then they went to a 15-month calendar the last 2-3 years. This year (2018) they have gone back to being just a 12-month calendar. I would prefer 15-month, but definitely not a deal breaker for me since I still have the 2017 calendar. The other two posters stated theirs didn't come with stickers - mine did. There is a piece of cardboard in the calendar to keep it from bending during shipment. My stickers were kind of stuck to the cardboard due to static cling. It would have been easy to overlook them. Honestly, I don't find the stickers useful and throw them out anyway.So what keeps me buying this calendar year after year... It is so easy to keep track of activities for each of my 4 kids plus hubs and me. There is also a space at the top of each day to write big things that effect whole household like "birthday" or "Spring Break". My household absolutely functions more smoothly due to this calendar. Each of the kids (ages 14, 13, 11, and 10) know how to check their week and see what they have coming up. I display it in my kitchen and many people comment on the smart design. Many of these "mom planner" style calendars only have 5 spaces. I love that this one has 6 + extra space for family events.Another change from previous editions... all of the past calendars have been subtle colors - muted reds and greens and yellows. 2018 is much brighter almost jewel tones. Also previous editions had same print (ikat, chevron, etc) for each month but each month would have a different color. 2018 every month is exactly same color and same bold print. Not much of print shows so it isn't "too" bold for my decor. I actually have red and black in my kitchen and it will look good.Lastly, I like that the 2018 calendar shows next few months of following year and has an info page as last page. Helpful to write down reminders for next year.Last note... you only have to write names down the side once for the whole year. They've had this same format for last few years. The very first calendar I purchased you had to rewrite every month and was a pain.Can't say enough good things about this format. LOVE!!!

This calendar is great - for the first couple of months, but when you're designing a 17-month FAMILY calendar, it needs to be made more sturdy. The hole at the top doesn't last long, before the thumbtack rips through. The hole should be reinforced or use a grommet. Turning that many pages/months, requires heavier staples than your traditional Swingline pumps out. These need to be industrial sized.The concept of this is great - the construction, not so much. I'll try a different brand, next time.*** Just a suggestion? There are plenty of DAD'S that manage families, too. Maybe take that into consideration when naming the product? ***

I've been using Mom's Manager Calender for last 5 years. It has ample space for everyday schedule which is great. The only reason I took off one star is the hole on the calenar has no support. It's at the top of the calendar and no support at all. It gets ripped over and over and I keep adding scotch tape to add more support.

I thought this would be great, but it is really ugly. Finding a place to mount it was a challenge.I do like the linear nature of the calendar. Still I am not really using it because it is so ugly!

I buy one of these every year and would be lost without it. It is perfect for my large family. I love the amount of space there is to write activities and appointments for each person.

I’ve always adored this calendar. The layout and look. 2018 s not an 16 month calendar like in the past. Only 12 months. And the design is very dated and 80’s and I don’t like it. I’ll buy it again next year because the layout can’t be beat, but I hope 2019 design is prettier.

Great calendar for a big family! It’s typically hard to fit family of 6 in a normal calendar. Get one of these every year and the stickers are a plus!

I like the other color designs better, but this one will do. Not big on the bright colors, but the functionality of the calendar is second to none.
