Doc Fizzix Mousetrap Racers is a wonderful, informative book for anyone of any age who wants to build mousetrap racers. The only feature that would have been better about this book was to have supply lists all in one place rather than scattered throughout the book. The physics of a successful build are explained, illustrated and inclusive of calculations. I purchased two copies of this book so that my grandchildren can invite their friends to build and race with them.

I wish I had bought this before I helped my grand-daughter build her car. We got most of the stuff right, but this book would have saved a lot of our trial-and-error time. Anyway, I truly recommend this book if you have a physics project to build a car powered by a standard mouse trap. The hints and details in this book are easily worth the cost of the book!

I am a high school science teacher and find this book fun and very informative. I wish all of my reference lab books were this good. I used to build balloon cars with my students to demonstrate Newton's Laws but there are so many students with latex allergies so I started looking for another project for my students. This is the one. If I were to write a book this is how I would write it.

I have long been a fan of Simon's Cat. A dozen years ago a friend send me an animated clip of Simon's Cat going through his antics of telling his human to get up and feed him. It was simply hilarious. Simon Tofield has had to be surrounded by cats his entire life in order for him to know cats so well and to be able to apply that knowledge to paper and animation. Of course, the animated little fiend is so much more expressive that the one on paper but none the less funny.I follow him on YouTube and if ever I'm in a blue funk, Simon's Cat can always make me smile and laugh out loud. This book is good but it makes me want to see and hear that little fella. I can see him in my two cats and only wish I had the creative talent to relay their personalities in print or animation. Kudos to Simon Tofield and his staff.

As stated above, I can't help loving the adorable little gourmand kitty and internet sensation known only as "Simon's Cat". I love the cartoons on YouTube and although this book is mostly stills from the various cartoons which feature "the kitten", (a creature loathed by "Simon's Cat" in the spirit of how Garfield feels about Nermil) it's still very cute and good for laughs. And there is content that is drawn specifically for this book, don't get me wrong.Whether through the animated toons or the books, every cat owner will find a behavior that will make you think to yourself "That's my cat! My cat dives me nuts with that! How did they capture the behavior so perfectly??" Animator/creator Simon Tofield brings so many kitty quirks to his drawings (animated on YouTube and still on paper) it's really hard not to enjoy them. What can I say? Simon's Cat just makes me happy. I got this ebook on sale for $1.99 and that's about what I want to pay for it. I have a very hard time wrapping my mind around spending 8 or 9 bucks for ANY book, much less one that can be read in about ten minutes, (even if that book is REALLY cute!) but my beef with the rising cost of e-books is for some other place. If you just want to giggle at some cute cat drawings, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the little fatty known as "Simon's Cat".

This is the third book in the Simon's cat print series. There is no real continuity issue across the series, and the characters are just stand-ins for characters you might know. Overall there is little substance or depth, but that's not what this is all about, it's about making you smile, as you can relate to the actions of the cat (and now kitten). And at this, as a cat person, it is likely to excel.What makes this book interesting was that whilst the first two were about the cat exploring the home and then the backyard / beyond the fence, this book has the added layer of being about sibling rivalry and kids being mischievous to each other or their parent. So the new character, which unlike book two's hedgehog and birds, has a much clearer defined role and makes it easier to relate to.As per usual Tofield's drawings are gorgeous, and it is easy to relate to the situations. Also featured are the dog, the hedgehogs and birds make a return and (my favorite) the turtle. The reason I'm dropping a point is this: there are stickers that come with the book, but the page is bound into the middle of the book, so you can't really remove them, without having a blank page or a missing drawing. Its not a big deal because they are gorgeous and if they had not been bound in odds are you'd loose them :) .The other reason is there is a guide of how to draw the various characters and this is fantastic but he left out the turtle, and that's just an outrage!If you enjoy the videos and either of the previous books (or are a cat person), odds are you'll enjoy this one. I think title is distinctly better than the second, though maybe not quite as good as the first.

I've always loved the "Simon's Cat" videos on YouTube, so when I found out that Simon had published a book, buying it was a no-brainer. I enjoyed the book, although I think a lot of the humor from the videos didn't translate well to print. I think that the reason for that has to do with the humor from the videos being based much more on "real life". Even when the cat does things that aren't possible for a real cat to do (wield a baseball bat, point at his mouth), it's still cat-like, because you know that if a real cat could, he would -- they were anthropomorphic versions of real cat behavior. Besides which, those sorts of things were a minimum in the videos -- most of the time, the cat was doing things like meowing to get his owner's attention, rubbing up against his owner, crouching to spring at a fly (while making that hunting "chittering" noise cats make) -- in other words, real cat behavior.I'd say probably 3/4 of the book is non-cat behavior. Nor is it anthropomorphic versions of real cat behavior -- the cat does everything from befriend a garden gnome to tease a hedgehog by sticking leaves on its spines.Still, even despite that, I'd still give the book four out of five stars. Even if something was lost in "translation", it still was an amusing book, and worth a read or two. The borderless cartoons and lack of captions (or any sort of text) let it flow in a way I found attractive and refreshing. And even if Simon's cat's shenanigans weren't cat-like, they were at least still funny.

I am a cat lover and love Simon Tofield’s “Simon’s Cat” videos. He captures the personality of cats perfectly! I have bought a few of his books. While the books make me smile, they are no comparison to the animated version. Much prefer the videos.

Anyone with existing cats and a new kitten will laugh out loud while reading this book! The facial expressions depicted on these kittys are perfectly done! New kittens are destructive, and this book reminded me to just chill out and enjoy the trade off that our pets give us. The gift of laughter, and the pleasure of big personality in small packages. Kitten Chaos= A fun little read while enjoying a cup of tea...with a cat hair floating in it.

This review is for the first edition. The second one is apparently quite different.This book contains information on aspects of Perl that are not often dealt with elsewhere. General Perl users don't worry about gross internal stuff as much. We use nice modules to take care of the details. Srinivasan expresses his belief that to be really great at using a language, you should know how it is implemented.Some chapters, like the one on implementing object persistence, are kind of a review of issues and state-of-the-art. Since this book is old by computer standards, the descriptions are definitely not state-of-the-art anymore; however, it does provide an interesting time capsule, and the issues discussed are still worth understanding.If you decide to read this, you really do need to be an advanced user. The concepts are aimed towards advanced users, but also it requires an advanced user to know when to say "aha, that's considered an anti-pattern now" (using an eval for flow-control on page 181), or "aha, that's a solved problem now" (problem with reference counts is solved with Scalar::Utils::weaken on page 178).Another problem is that more than once a line of code is cut off suddenly.Still, I recommend it.

Although small and printed in 1997 -- this book covers deep details about Perl which I believe are still valid almost 20 years later... I'm gonna continue reading it...

There's a lot of good stuff here I didn't know, but It wasn't made clear when I bought it that this was the First Edition, from 1997, and there is a much newer edition available, with a very different content.

Reading this book will definitely increase your knowledge of Perl. Definitely not content-free. It may not have every topic everyone would hope to see, but it covers some useful stuff like template-driven code generation fairly well. You should read Programming Perl first. Also, read Object Oriented Perl for more elaboration on that topic.

I have found this book to be a great help in solving real-world customer problems. It gave me the insights and concepts needed to be effective in developing production worthy code.

This is a very good book describing Perl Object programming and Advanced programming. From my search, it looked better for my needs than the 2nd Edition with same Title, different author.

Very good reference for the advanced programmer.

However, this is one book that can be disturbing at times because of what human beings do to each other. And the cops involved were faced with frightening and life threatening situations that they'd rather forget. I'm familiar with the author personally and believe in his integrity. These stories are all true and the book is well-written. Really enjoyed it.

I like reading factual cases. This is a fictional story. Was disappointed and felt mislead. Oh well. I did opt for a used copy and it did come in good shape and was every bit as good as a new copy.

A well written and interesting book. Good character portraits and a fast paced book. A good read congrats to the author.

This book was so suspenseful and thrilling! I couldn't put it down. A book like this would make a great movie!

I could not put it down once I started reading.

Come on! I had to put it down when seasoned cops allow for a UNTRAINED PUPPY on a search and rescue! And I'm sorry it's her house isn't it? Why wouldn't something with her scent be in her own home?! I mean really! Ps... In what world does an investigative cop dust for prints!? In a kidnapping case at that!? There would be dozens of crime scene techs ready to do their thing. 3 stars for the imagination of the writer and minus 2 for lying and not classifying this book for what it really is! FICTION. It would've been good as a thriller novel. No need for the B'S.

Started reading this book, but put it down (for now), due to the fact that this book breaks down MANY FACTIONS of Hebrew Israelites all over the world. I enjoy its accounts of the different Hebrew Israelites, and their backgrounds. And the book states that this version is the "American Version," which applies to Us Hebrew Israelites...here in the United States of America. It does provide Me the opportunity to use it as a Reference Book, which will aid My research. I would say this is a "Well-Versed Book," that will give Me much needed support from a historical point of view.

Reading this book I was amazed at the level of contradiction, half truths, and overall deception. This book needs serious editing. The author writes that the Khazars, Yemenite Jews, and other converts are original heirs to Israel while making a comparison to the Igbos in attempt to live up to the European standard of Jews. The author embraces the bastard word of jews and condones the words Lord, God, and Jehovah. The authors calls the dark skin of the Igbos a curse. This book was published in 1999 yet when dealing with true scholarship, the author excludes the teachings of "The 13th Tribe" by Arthur Koestler, which was published in 1976. This book belongs in the trash. When I showed many of the passages to my Igbo brothers and sisters, they agreed. The author writes from colonized mindset while presenting many falsehoods and oxymorons.

This is a fascinating and wonderful documentation outline of the historical journey of the IBO people from North East Africa (Middle East today) and how they ended up in various parts of West Africa today. I'm still in the middle of reading this book [ very slowly] and consuming all of the rich information of this ancient people and their Hebraic customs.I am finding out there is loads of information coming out today of this "historical cover-up" of who the IBO (true Hebrew Israelites) people are today and where they came from. It also confirms clearly what Zondervan Pictorial Bible Dictionary printed in 1963 on page 330 about the lineage of Ham (son of Noah and father of the black races, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites) being the progenitor of the blacks races, but NOT THE NEGROS. So even though our people were in Africa running from persecution they were not Hamitic. This is a must read for everyone that desire to connect the dots of our (so called African American (Negro), Jamaican and Haitian) passage from the Holy Land to Africa. Shalom...

I used this book along with a few others when I decided to research my ancestry, coupled with genetic DNA testing and bible reference. It is well researched and full of information. If you are seeking truth you can rest assured that this book points you in the right direction.

well o. alaezi has good points in this book, but where he turns me off in this book, is he's calling fake jews edomites in Israel now Hebrews. and he never mentions revelation 2:9 and revelation 3:9 throughout the whole book. and way more then 25% of Hebrew Israelites in north America.

The book has some very interesting information that is worth further researching. I feel that our history need to be told correctly and I'm shedding new light on that history. I'm glad I purchased it. There are a few more books I'm going to purchase in the near future.

I love it very informative!!! Excellent study aid for those seeking truth about the people often mistakenly referred to as African Americans. This book lays out with great clarity who these people are according to the Holy Scriptures. A must read!!!

Loved this authentication that holds amazing facts of history that have been revealed once again for the Hebrew people with much history of their origins and traditions still kept, a must-read for those scholars looking for proof outside of the Bible.
