During our birthdays lunch and holiday celebrations, I had the privilege of having tasted several of her recipes referred on this book. This book contains not only culinary recipes but also Alicia’s love and passion to cook and the culinary memories of her loved family and friends. We have been waiting forever for Alicia to publish her recipes. She is a wonderful cook and we know that it'll take me several months to cook all these goodies, although my interpretation may end up getting me 3 stars...

And I guess I felt compelled to write this review as I don't write many that are positive. They just get lost in the mess of raves anyway so what's the point?As I stated in my last review, I try to avoid series books...and I again broke my rule to avoid series books (as per last review here: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R29NGSZIIKJKG3?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp) and decided to try the sample, then I invested the $4.99 with trepidation. I was not totally disappointed--the story somewhat completes, but not totally. And, frankly, I'm torn if I will continue with the series. But I thank the author for NOT offering a complete cliffhanger...I was also quite pleased, with the sample and the beginning of the book that the editing/proofreading was better than MOST ebooks I've tried to read. But...then it started to fall apart. It needs some more serious work as there are glaring errors as well as lots of other typos, etc. to be fixed (missing words, bad/ugly word choices, etc.)Here are the clippings of the cringe-worthy boners:=================Skywave (The Rorschach Explorer Missions Book 1) (K. I guess for me, if you want to write and "can't", please get someone who really knows...but I suggest you read some books, take some classes, whatever. And if the author wants to reply to this, perhaps we could find a way to connect. I have edited/proofread before for published authors, for very little or for free.I have NOT read the prequel and am still mulling that, as well as continuing the series. And I'm not a science geek, so for much of the "science?", I honestly don't know. I'll see what the next blurb says...I really DESPISE series books (but try now to find anything NOT)...just tell me the story please, especially when you haven't published all the books yet and hold your readers on tenterhooks?UPDATE:I tried the prequel UMO and deleted it and ran for a refund rather quickly. Worse writing IMO and I wasn't happy with how it started and seemed to be going. Seems very short too...less than 1200 LOCs.

I’m only 38% through this, but it’s labeled hard SF. Some basic physics descriptions bother me. It seems that this new electronic propulsion system has a max speed (not relativistic.) And when it shuts off, the vehicle slows down? The description doesn’t seem to imply the speed limit or slowdown are due to orbital mechanics, either. The novel also seems to confuse radio waves with electricity—as if the two are identical. This doesn’t bother anyone else?

This book is a page turner and difficult to put down. Gripping storyline with a great cast of characters typical of this author. I highly recommend all his books and am very much looking forward to the next one.

From the beginning to the last page, I was beside myself trying to read faster and faster so I could get to the end and know what happened. Not many authors can do that, I am a real picky reader and I like to be on the edge of my seat with any book I read. This was the most amazing story. The people were like old friends and you find yourself talking outloud, yelling at the book, and so excited to see what happens. It's like when I watch a Sy Fy movie I am always looking for that adrenaline to start flowing! Well this book delivers more adrenaline than you ever wanted!! I will be reading more of Mr. Dongohue's books. Can't wait for book 2 of Skywave, hurry write faster, faster please!! Unlike any science fiction book I have read lately, I loved it!

I couldn’t put this book down toward the end. A bit slow getting it all off the ground and introducing the characters, but once that is all done, it’s like fire! And makes me wonder sometimes what does go on that the common people never find out about?! It’s hard to wait until July to get the next book, but read UMO for the history for this book, you’ll be glad you did.

I almost put the first of Patrick Donoghue's books (Shadows of the Stone Benders) down. It wasn't the level of writing I was looking for. I am SO glad I didn't - every books has gotten better, the writing more assured, the characters deeper and more interesting. Add in that the alternate history story lines are very cool. Can't wait for the next book and Bravo! to Patrick.

I'M getting sick and tired of the same old military sci-fi with the same old plot. Planet is attacked and one ship out on patrol is spared and it's up to that ship and its elite crew of space marines to save the world etc etc etc. Boy, was this book a breath of fresh air. Set in contemporary times and mixes SF with a mystery that will have you hooked within 15 minutes. For the first time in over a year I sacrificed sleep to read, it was just so hard to put down.I fell in love with all the characters, even the baddies. I didn't skip one paragraph in the whole book. Can't wait for the next installment. This author can really write!I'm a prolific reader and can read 3 books a week easy. I must have 300 books in my Kindle app. And yet I have left about 5-6 reviews on Amazon. That honor is only bestowed on books that make we say "Wow!" when I finish it. Bravo K. Patrick Donoghue.

My 8 yr old boy thinks this book is awesome! It is very informative although the topics are pretty gross, LOL!! If your kid is into bugs or other gross things, this book will be a hit!
