I wish I read this book years ago. I love reading coaching / personal development books. Definitely an insightful view of how coaching girls is different than coaching boys with stories from the author's career coaching the US Women's National Team supporting the lessons learned; as well as some lessons he learned while raising his own kids. Definitely not a soccer tactics book, it is a book geared for anyone coaching girls in sports or any other genre. I appreciate this book as much as Rinus Michels, Bill Walsh, Pep Guardiola, and Urban Meyer.

This was an invaluable book for me as I transitioned from coaching boys to girls. As a former Division 1 player, I was very nervous about how naïve I was as I started coaching girls. I read this before the season started & it reduced my anxiety levels dramatically! Turned out their was little to be worried about, but I owe this book a lot of credit for the success I had w that team over the next few years. I especially appreciated Tony's discussion of how most girls view their team/social peers as an interconnected web, vs the hierarchy or totem poles that boys often perceive. Very helpful w both team-building & also individual player interactions. Very highly recommended for coaches of girls at nearly any age.

I think it goes without saying, but coaching a group of ten 14 year old girls in volleyball is always a challenge. You never know from day to day what you're going to have to deal with when you get to the gym. I've been coaching girls for 12 years on and off and I've learned a lot about how to communicate and what to say and not say. Of course, there are still many, many things I do not know or understand. Reading this book has given me a clear understanding of the path I need to take every season to make sure a) the girls give me the best they have, and b) they have fun doing it. The lessons Tony goes through in this book and the examples he gives can be applied to any age group with some modifications, but the underlying goals are the same. I really enjoyed reading this book and see myself re-reading it many times to reinforce my methodolgies. Yes, this book is obviously geared toward soccer, but it is completely relevant for any sport where young women are involved. Highly, highly recommended.

Good book on Tony’s insight into his sucess as a coach. More of a biography then a coaching aid. Some interesting team building exercises that I use.

I grew up watching the team he speaks about - with awe and desire to be as good as them. These players are the icons of the beginning of women's soccer in America. Tony DiCicco, as their coach, helps deliver true insight in how to coach women and girls through this book. A high recommendation for any girl's coach.

I have read this book several times since buying on Amazon.com. I have also purchased a few copies for fellow coaches. There is great insight into Tony's experiences coaching top-level girls who have all the same insecurities as club level girls. There is also great insight into the drills Tony used to create a well bonded team. I have used many of these tips for my team and it has been very successful. I highly recommend this book if you are coaching or plan on coaching female soccer players. It will only make you better.

This is the second copy of this book I've bought. I misplaced (or loaned out) my other copy and just had to get another copy so I could reread it. It would be a wonderful gift for a coach new to coaching girls. Coaching girls is very different from coaching boys -- especially in the pre-teen/teen years. Tony D. offers some wonderful insight on the differences and how to handle them.(Recently got my copy signed by Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tisha Venturini-Hoch, too!)

Interesting account of the highlights of a soccer coaches career but not a handbook for successfully coaching female athletes.

I have a Master's in Finance and have dabbled in the market off and on over the past twenty years. One of the reasons I keep leaving the market is that I haven't been able to create consistent gains, despite my academic knowledge. I have read a lot of books and attended seminars and I have to say that author Brian Anderson's "1 Hour Trade" is the freshest and most sound investment system that I have seen in a long time. Not only are his strategies well-explained and illustrated throughout his book, but they actually work and produce results on a consistent basis. Great stuff here.

Being new to investing in the stock market, I tried the approach I'd like to think most people do. Get overeager on large gains, buy and sell whimsically at a loss and occasionally get lucky.After growing tired of my account looking like a heartbeat pattern, I decided to skip the penny stocks and switch over to longer-term swing trades. It worked well for a couple of months and was a lot less stressful which was nice.While my account was consistently growing, the gains weren't substantial enough for me, I needed that penny stock volatility.So I decided to get back into the game, but first I decided to educate myself and find a set game plan and rules to adhere to. I went out and bought twelve day trading books from Amazon and elsewhere. While I've only gotten through 4 of them so far, this was the first one that was neatly laid out in a very clear and concise manner entailing the scanner setup, entry point, order type, stop losses and exit points with some bonus information on things, such as volume.Since I have begun this trading technique last week, all of my 3 trades were successful with a profit realization of 12% or greater per trade.I highly recommend this book.

As other reviewers have stated, this book is concise and more importantly, in my mind, actionable. I have tried various trading strategies, but what I like about this one is that the time horizon is slightly longer. Perhaps hours instead of minutes. As a relatively new day trader, keeping my emotions in check is the hardest part. With this particular startegy, knowing the trade may take a little while to unfold is a feature, in my humble opinion. You're essentially looking for home run wins. But the way the trade is laid out makes it methodical and puts risk management at the forefront.The author is also resposive to any questions, as he states in the book, which is a big plus.I will post an update at some point in the distant future once I see how this strategy works out for me long term.

Managing risk when trying to identify runners is incredibly important. I've learned that the hard way and its something you hear every day trader talk about numerous times. When lots of volume comes into any stock, price swings can be vicious. If you can identify a steady uptrend and set your stop loss, you may have a winner, but profit taking can happen at any time pulling it down. Once the pattern becomes an uncertainty, its incredibly risky staying in it - so calculate your acceptable risk.Most traders seem to pick risking 1/3 of their potential (calculated) exit, so if you are hoping to make 60 cents on a share, maybe your stop loss (or trailing stop) is set to 20c from buy-in. Setting a trailing stop as it gaps up can keep you in the area where you're absolutely making money, rather than gambling on a "I hope it recovers!"He talks through setting up a scanner which is great, however he identifies one field as being 30x volume(?) I've read this area a couple times wondering if I got it wrong, because outside of the sub $1.00 stock area, I don't watch anything that hits 30x volume, to even see 200% volume is incredible - so I wonder if this was supposed to be 130% (30% increase) in volume?This book keeps it simple, there are tremendous amounts of nuances and candlestick reading stuff that is not of course covered in depth, but that is all specified up front. If you want the simple rules this book is IT. If you want to go deeper on a sub-topic, go for it! In order to avoid getting lost in the noise, its important to start with the barebones basics. Manage risk, identify clear uptrends based on absolute volume (and how much of that is sell), set an entry and exit point and always manage risk. I've seen and been in stocks that have been pulled viciously down, and I've had to learn to stop touching them throughout the day once they burn you. Its easy to be clouded by belief and hope rather than seeing facts. Some successful traders actually recommend meditation to improve clarity of thought. Anyhow, I recommend this title to start with the basic laws, and how-to of trading. And yes, a lot of the time market movers happen in the first 30-120 minutes - or set your T-stop and walk away :-)

This is a condensed version, but it was enough to gain my interest to buy the full version (ISBN 0-8091-0537-3), and it is powerful. If you are a serious student of church history (as I am), you need to purchase the full version. Although the Didache is about certain early church communities, it does provide an outstanding glimpse into the early church in a manner that is unparalleled. However, bear in mind the full version (almost 1,000 pages) is written by and for academics, citing the analysis of other academics (I am only a layman). Nevertheless, it has greatly enhanced my appreciation of the ancient world's civilizations and how the early church formed and grew. If you are a fundamentalist, this book is almost certainly beyond your scope as you will be shocked to learn how shallow your knowledge of Christianity is.

I was interested to see what may be a 1st century Christian guide, but a little disappointed overall. Most of it agrees with the Gospel, IMO, but it falls short on harmonizing with them. It really smacks more of the encroachment of the institutional church, placing the judgment of the sinner as final authority over other members, instead of who the Bible states is in authority.

The sub-title of this book is its best summary of content: "Text, Translation, Analysis, and Commentary". Aaron Milavec uses this volume to push some of his novel theories about this remarkable document. He claims it is VERY early (50-80AD) and has its "own internal logic". These are amazing claims that I do not think there is enough evidence to support them. Nevertheless, the volume is still of some value because it takes the Didache as a document in its own right with pre-existing assumptions about authorship. I believe he has missed some important internal clues about the language that alone make it at least 100 years later than he claims. despite this, it is a very useful alternate view that is well researched.

The Didache:Text, Translation, Analysis and Commentary is a must read in conjunction with The Didache is an absolute must read. The information is food for the soul and extremely helpful in understanding early Christianity.Fr. Friar Dennis+

THE DIDACHE was a text discovered by a Greek Orthodox Archbisiop named Philotheous Bryennious (1833-.c. 1914 or 1918) in 1873 while examining a Greek convent. THE DIDACHE was a training manual and litergical guide for novices wishing to join early Christian communities. Aaron Milavec who edited this edition wrote the introduction and placed the Greek (Koine Greek)text along with English translation.The discovery of THE DIACHE is a new historical development of one of the oldest texts in Catholic/Christian History. Scholars date the anonymous publication between c. 50-c.90 AD before the Canonical gospels were adopted and at the time of some of the apostles such as St. John and St. Paul. Milavec wrote that at first some historians thought that THE DIDACHE was a fabrication, but they had to agree on the authenticity of the text which became published and circulated by 1884.Milhavec proved that THE DIADCHE was not based on any of the Gospels or writings of the early apostles. Yet, the text has both Old Testament and New Testament prescriptions and prohibitions such as bans on murder, illicit sex, etc. Passages also have reminders of patience, praying for one's enemies, calm resolute conversation, forgiveness, etc. Greed, hatred, hypocricy, and wrath are to be avoided at all costs. THE DIACHE has firm warnings against magic, false symbols, and false, huskster prophets (profits?). THE DIDACHE had comments about the Way of Life and the Way of Death which echoes Deuteronomy 30:15. Readers may conjecture that THE DIADACHE may have been based on St. Paul's recommendation of honoring traditions (2 Thesalonians2:15)which are also mentioned in other Pauline Epistles.What intrigued the undersigned is that the liturgy, while not exactly the same as that of the Holy Mass, is very similar to Holy Mass. Sacraments such as baptism, confession, espeically the Eucharist, Last Rites and other sacraments are metnioned along with recitation of The Lord's Prayer and biblical readings. THE DIDACHE cites The Golden Rule. Mentors including women mentors were to lead examplary lives and not deviaate from the tradition and format of THE DIADACHE. THE DIADACHE did not promise an easy live and warned of the wrath of close "friends" and family members. Yet, the novice was introduced into a new family.Milavec cites in his commentary warnings about the immediate Second Coming and to avoid false prophets who make such predictions to their own discredit. THE DIDACHE also warned against mistreatment of slaves and employees. Stress was placed on the Eucharist to the point that Confession/Reconcilation were necessary prior to participating in the Eucharist.The end of this book as useful flowcharts and a good bibliography. The English text is clear to those who do not know the Greek language. One can learn much about conditions of early Church History during the first two centuries of Christianity. What cannot be gleaned from the text can be understood from the commentary and flowcharts.This writer's only criticism of Milavec's edtion of THE DIDACHE is that it does not have an index. However, interested readers can refer to the book if they take careful notes and seriously read this text. This short book is highly recommended for anyone interested in understanding the development of the early Christian church. I read with fascination about the practices of one early group. At least some of the writings must date back to the very earliest years when there were several distinct "Jesus sects", probably before the writings of Paul were well known. Specifically, I found that the text for the eucharist (Section 9) is truly a thanksgiving, without the Christology of the later church added. (The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek for "thanks".) However, one can find traces of later additions, such as the Trinity added in Section 7. Thus we can see layers as the church developed.Milavec has a good introduction to the material, and then gives a strong argument for why the Didache is organized as it is.

Kindle version is totally illegible and the book should never have been released in this format. A complete waste of money.
