This book was exactly what I was looking for , a good interesting read . A collection of true, spooky stories that show that these paranormal experiences can happen to anyone . Ghost Crimes was very well written, well organized and not too short ! Loved it !

Wow! I don't go for sensationalism in the paranormal. I want to know the truth. Even in its simplest form, the truth has a message. However, this is one book that can be disturbing at times because of what human beings do to each other. And the cops involved were faced with frightening and life threatening situations that they'd rather forget. I'm familiar with the author personally and believe in his integrity. These stories are all true and the book is well-written. Really enjoyed it.

I like reading factual cases. This is a fictional story. Was disappointed and felt mislead. Oh well. I did opt for a used copy and it did come in good shape and was every bit as good as a new copy.

A well written and interesting book. Good character portraits and a fast paced book. A good read congrats to the author.

SO GOOD..NOT SURE IF THERE WAS SOME ENHANCEMENT TO THE STORY, BECAUSE ITS AS SCARY AS HELL...REALLY GOOD BOOK

This book was so suspenseful and thrilling! I couldn't put it down. A book like this would make a great movie!

I could not put it down once I started reading.

Come on! I had to put it down when seasoned cops allow for a UNTRAINED PUPPY on a search and rescue! And I'm sorry it's her house isn't it? Why wouldn't something with her scent be in her own home?! I mean really! Ps... In what world does an investigative cop dust for prints!? In a kidnapping case at that!? There would be dozens of crime scene techs ready to do their thing. 3 stars for the imagination of the writer and minus 2 for lying and not classifying this book for what it really is! FICTION. It would've been good as a thriller novel. No need for the B'S.

Started reading this book, but put it down (for now), due to the fact that this book breaks down MANY FACTIONS of Hebrew Israelites all over the world. I enjoy its accounts of the different Hebrew Israelites, and their backgrounds. And the book states that this version is the "American Version," which applies to Us Hebrew Israelites...here in the United States of America. It does provide Me the opportunity to use it as a Reference Book, which will aid My research. I would say this is a "Well-Versed Book," that will give Me much needed support from a historical point of view.

Reading this book I was amazed at the level of contradiction, half truths, and overall deception. This book needs serious editing. The author writes that the Khazars, Yemenite Jews, and other converts are original heirs to Israel while making a comparison to the Igbos in attempt to live up to the European standard of Jews. The author embraces the bastard word of jews and condones the words Lord, God, and Jehovah. The authors calls the dark skin of the Igbos a curse. This book was published in 1999 yet when dealing with true scholarship, the author excludes the teachings of "The 13th Tribe" by Arthur Koestler, which was published in 1976. This book belongs in the trash. When I showed many of the passages to my Igbo brothers and sisters, they agreed. The author writes from colonized mindset while presenting many falsehoods and oxymorons.

This is a fascinating and wonderful documentation outline of the historical journey of the IBO people from North East Africa (Middle East today) and how they ended up in various parts of West Africa today. I'm still in the middle of reading this book [ very slowly] and consuming all of the rich information of this ancient people and their Hebraic customs.I am finding out there is loads of information coming out today of this "historical cover-up" of who the IBO (true Hebrew Israelites) people are today and where they came from. It also confirms clearly what Zondervan Pictorial Bible Dictionary printed in 1963 on page 330 about the lineage of Ham (son of Noah and father of the black races, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites) being the progenitor of the blacks races, but NOT THE NEGROS. So even though our people were in Africa running from persecution they were not Hamitic. This is a must read for everyone that desire to connect the dots of our (so called African American (Negro), Jamaican and Haitian) passage from the Holy Land to Africa. Shalom...

I used this book along with a few others when I decided to research my ancestry, coupled with genetic DNA testing and bible reference. It is well researched and full of information. If you are seeking truth you can rest assured that this book points you in the right direction.

well o. alaezi has good points in this book, but where he turns me off in this book, is he's calling fake jews edomites in Israel now Hebrews. and he never mentions revelation 2:9 and revelation 3:9 throughout the whole book. and way more then 25% of Hebrew Israelites in north America.

The book has some very interesting information that is worth further researching. I feel that our history need to be told correctly and I'm shedding new light on that history. I'm glad I purchased it. There are a few more books I'm going to purchase in the near future.

I've just finished Remote - Office Not Required, a book by 37Signals founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (also creator of the web framework, Ruby on Rails). Jason and David run the Basecamp project with great success using a small army of remote workers. downloadThis success has made them prophets who declare the benefits of remote work to companies who do not see its value, or fear it altogether.As a remote worker myself, who spends three days a week working from home, and two days in the office an hour and a half away in Cleveland, Ohio, I wasn't sure if Remote would offer any nuggets about remote work that I didn't already know and agree with.I was only partly right.Jason and David's analysis of remote work gave me a greater appreciation for the paradigm and also for those companies that have embraced the remote workplace ideology, such as where I work in Cleveland.Here are five of my favorites.1. Eliminating the Commute - Sure, I am acutely aware that removing a commute is a huge benefit to remote work, but for someone like me, who is smack dab in the middle of nowhere between job hubs like Cleveland, Columbus, and Pittsburgh, Remote reminded me of how awesome the ability to mitigate such a commute really is. Without the advent of remote work, an hour and a half drive back and forth every day for five days a week would have seemed daunting (even for someone like me who loves driving). But that drive two days a week is just right, enabling me to enjoy other benefits of working from home, along with the benefits of working in a bigger city a couple times a week, especially lunch at great restaurants with my co-workers :)2. Health - So I mentioned I love eating at restaurants. Food is definitely a passion of mine. But if I worked every day in a restaurant hub like Cleveland, my belt would be snapping off in a few weeks! Plus, the long commute would not offer me much time to exercise in the morning or evening during a work day. But since I work from home three days a week, after work, I can trade in what would be a long ride home in for a run (at least in the summer, winters in NE Ohio are awful!). That way I have more room to eat on the days I'm in Cleveland!3. Time Flexibility - Remote work gives you the ability to get your average forty hours a week in any time during the workweek. My wife and I just had a baby, so that time flexibility really pays off when you are juggling work with visits to the midwife or pediatrician.4. Productivity Analysis - When you are working remotely, you must be judged primarily on your ability to produce, not just where you are sitting from nine to five. It's extra motivating to know that your project success rate is how your company will perceive your value to them. It forces you to manage your time appropriately to get the job done!5. The Ability to Hire Talent Anywhere - For years, companies have been restricted to offering employment exclusively to home town boys and girls, or try to woo outside talent into the home office city. If the talent didn't want to move, the company was out of luck. Now, with remote work options, great people can be hired from all over the world! And an added benefit is that if a current employee needs to move out of the home office city for whatever reason, the ability to work remotely could may keep them with the company, saving that company time and money in finding a replacement.Remote - Office Not Required is a book with a clear mission - to convince companies that currently do not offer remote options, or are skeptical of remote work, to embrace dramatic shifts in their thinking. It is also a rallying cry for those workers who are trying to convince their current employer to offer remote work options. But for people like me, who are currently enjoying those benefits already, it is valuable reminder to appreciate what you already have, the company leadership that makes that remote work possible!

I'm a big fan of the SvN blog and Rework and Getting Real, so it's safe to say I was excited about Remote when I heard about it earlier this year. Coming from a global professional services firm, we've adopted a lot of workplace flexibility measures to fight back on the expenses associated with office space and our high-turnover/stress environment. I share the authors belief that going remote is the way of the future and this book highlights the reasons for going remote, the arguments against, and methods for optimizing the value of a remote culture.Since I work in IT, I understand the obvious connection between the authors and the software business. I think they did a fine job showing why remote working isn't just for IT and why there are benefits across industries. One of the few shortcomings of Rework was that I thought it was a little too IT-centric; some of the arguments presented there just wouldn't fit well in non-IT, traditional (read: old-fashioned) businesses. Remote does a good job explaining why some of these more traditional old-fashioned businesses can benefit from going remote. I especially liked the sections about hiring and retaining the best employees. Everyone can relate to this and it has helpful that they went into detail to explain exactly how they do it at 37 Signals (since at this point they are pretty good at it).It's a short, enjoyable read. It leaves the reader with a sense of what work could be like if you're courageous enough to think outside the norm and challenge conventions as to what work is supposed to be (and what it can be). I'd argue that almost any business owner or decision maker could benefit from this book, even if for just one little bit of information that makes you follow-up with one of their sourced documents. I know that finishing this book is just the beginning for me to rethink how remote work arrangements can be optimized.

With his book, Mr. Vance has done a service to all the constituencies who care about the fate of MH370: the aviation industry, professional accident investigators, and most of all, the families of passengers on board the flight. One assumes, as you or I would, all of these communities want the truth.The author’s careful marshaling of evidence for an approach/landing speed ocean ditching, flaps down, is a reasonable conclusion to me as a pilot (not ATP, but multi-engine instrument rated) given the physical evidence presented in the book. No pilot-in-command is EVER unmindful of the souls on board for whom he or she is responsible. So the most unsatisfying aspect of the book is the author’s inability to address the motivation or psychological reasons that one or both of the pilots would do what the evidence suggests at least one of them did.Nevertheless, it is to the author’s credit he says, paraphrasing him, “I’m a competent professional aviation accident investigator with decades of experience. I am not competent to assess the psychological state of the pilots or ascertain a motivation.” This prudence argues for paying attention to the definitive conclusions he reaches with respect to the physical evidence.One hopes, as the author does, that this book will prompt revisiting the findings of the accident investigation for the sake of the science and the profession, as well as (and most all) for the families.

The premise of this book is that the loss of MH370 can be explained as a deliberate act by the pilot to plan and execute the controlled ditching and disappearance of MH370 into the deep dark hostile southern Indian Ocean. If the evidence presented in this book are valid, then the conclusion of the author could be true. A quick read and worth checking out if you are interested in the mystery of MH370.

The book goes into great depth regarding the various items found from MH370 and what the undeniable conclusions mean regarding the fate of the missing aircraft. My only disappointment was the lack of a proposed resting site based on these answers. Anyone interested in the MH370 investigation should definitely read this book.

As a retired airline pilot I always believed this is what happened. Looking at the picture of the recovered flaparon I can understand fully that the aircraft was soft landed in the water, Thank you Larry Vance. Tom V

Breathtaking analysis and evidence about the MH370 tragedy. Takes the reader through the events, search, investigation and suspected ocean ditching. Highly recommended especially if you like reading about the aviation industry but even if you don't.

He uses excellent logic to piece together the truth based on evidence (actual pieces of the plane!). I enjoyed this book very much.Now, maybe we can attempt to figure out "WHY?" it happened.

The evidence here seems real. Caught myself skipping or skimming over larger portions of the book. So, I gave it 2 Stars due my lack of interest, and I have read several MH370 books.....If Malaysia had sent up their fighters to check, none of this would have happen....that's where the cookie crumbles...they blew it, big time, and the world has a so called "Mystery"...Soooooo SAD !!! Sooooo Sorry for all involved !!!

I've been interested in the saga surrounding flight MH370 since it occurred, so when I heard this book was published, I was excited to read it.Let me first say that my issues with this book are not related to analytical accuracy.In truth, I always assumed, based on the known facts of the matter (the complete diversion in flight course, the attempt to shut down all communications and tracking devices, etc), that this was CLEARLY a case of mass murder-suicide via intentional crashing. Behaviorally, there is significant evidence to support that, and little evidence to refute it.So when I discovered this book, I expected it to cover more regarding pilot action, circumstantial evidence, etc. If you are looking for a book like that, THIS ISN'T IT. The title is incredibly misleading, in my opinion, because there is very, very, very little in it regarding circumstantial evidence, pilot behavior, pre-event history, mitigating circumstances, etc. that might lead to better understanding the pilot's obvious actions, etc.This is strictly a book outlining, VERY REDUNDANTLY, the physical evidence gleaned through review of the few recovered pieces of flight MH370. Because there are so few pieces, this argument could have been made in about three chapters--maybe less.But even within each chapter, the author is so redundant that it's almost unbearable to continue reading. There are MANY paragraphs that containe multiple sentences saying the same exact thing.Frankly, as a former US government worker (military) who is also DHS/FEMA qualed, I find this puzzling, considering the author is apparently a former accident investigator. Even though he was with the Canadian TSB, government reporting tends to be pretty uniform, across the board, in its factual presentation and summary reporting. Analyses and final reports tend to be brief, to the point, and as simplistic as possible. It's a process drilled into government investigators from Day 1.So I cannot fathom ANY government assessment containing the kind of redundancy this book contains. The style in which this book has been written actually makes me question how a man with so much apparent experience leading and summarily presenting the results of hundreds of aviation accidents could write in such a manner. It is almost unbelievable.The other thing to know is that the book is incredibly technical. I don't have a problem with that, personally, since I am familiar with much of the lingo used by the author. But if you are looking for simplistic argument, you won't find it here.Lastly, let me say that I do think the author is clearly right about his assessments, and that the official investigative team (led by the ATSB) have a LOT to explain in how they reached their official opinion--which is questionable to even us lay people. But the author could have effectively argued his case in about 1/4 of the length of this book. I feel like he should have filled the rest with more behavioral, circumstantial, and historical information regarding the pilots, rather than just repeat himself ad nauseum.

I bought this for my daughter who is having some issues in the regular classroom with anxieties and over exciteabilities. This book has already opened discussions on how better to deal with these. It's not the type of book you read all the way through instead you pick a topic that's important at the moment and read that section. Also helpful is that there are quotes from other kids who are dealing with the same things. Those helped my daughter know she isn't alone in what she is going through.

This book is a really great way to explore giftedness through the eyes of Gifted and Talented children. Great read for G/T teachers, professional development or general research on giftedness.

Christine Fonseca does it again in her second book about giftedness. This book is full of advice and tips for gifted students on how to deal with stress, get along with others, and avoid the trap of perfectionism. It seems like no stone is left unturned as the author covers every facet of a gifted child's life. The book is easy to read and is organized into sections regarding school, friends, and family. Also, there are quizzes and tip sheets that are beneficial to young readers.

I chose this so my daughter could have a resource to go to, other than her uncool mom, to ask questions and get answers. We are a fairly conservative family, so I was nervous to see what the authors would be presenting as answers, but it seems fine. I read through it before my daughter and feel comfortable allowing her to use it as a personal resource. The book is written almost as a question and answer book. Children can look at the table of contents, find a topic they are struggling with and are directed to the answer. It is very simple, and gives these gifted children the immediate answer they sometimes want and/or need.

Once I started reading this book, I knew I was going to use it as a discussion starter with my third and fourth grade students and I would be referring it to my parents. (I may have to get two copies.) One of my fourth grade students said, "It's amazing, she can read my mind" after I read aloud the first two tips!The author has written a very insightful compilation of success tips for gifted children that is not condescending. Not only will children find this book easy to read, adults will be drawn in too. Sections for reflection by both the student and parent are at the end of each chapter. The author definitely draws on her experiences in the field of education and psychology. My prediction is this book will be highlighted at the next Texas Association of Gifted Children and other gifted associations conferences next year.

I am ordering this right now because of all the reviews. I don't know if my 11-year-old granddaughter is gifted but right now she is into Science.I just got her a good telescope for her birthday and she was overjoyed. I got her the Cell phone adapter and a book also.I believe when kids get to be a certain age it is time to lay off the toys so much. It is never too soon to find out what interests you in life and go from there. I'm going to begin to get these circuit board items also. These things are not just for boys. Nowadays a girl can have an interest in anything without being laughed at. ANYTHING. So, I have 4 granddaughters and I am going to approach them all this way as they get older. Then they can develop their interests which may lead them to a lucrative career in life. I'm not saying they have to give up their childhood, but when they reach a certain age, well, life is much more than toys.

I was extremely surprised recently when I saw this book listed as "In Stock" on Amazon. I was under the impression it was not set for publication until September. But there it was, listed as currently available. So I immediately ordered a copy. I am very pleased with the purchase.Not your typical book of portraits. Eggleston's work has never quite been able to fit within the margins of any particular label. His portraits are not formal, Karsh-style pictures but candid glimpses of family, friends, strangers and a few celebrities. Many of these photos have been published before but some I have not previously seen. Unlike the "Eggleston 5x7" book (a book mostly of typical portraits) which had few shots that interested me, "Portraits" is Eggleston in his element, mostly shooting quickly and catching just the right non-moment.I've found the text that accompanies most photography and art books is usually claptrap from self-proclaimed experts who want to show off their intellectual blather. This is different. The opening essay and the interview with Eggleston at the end of the book are mostly superb and provide insight into the artist and his work.The reproduction is mostly fine. I do want to note that the photo of Eggleston's son William III on page 148 does have a defect in the reproduction. In my copy of the book, the photo has a fuzzy gray spot in the lower center (on William's right shoulder). I'm not sure if this appears in every copy of the book but it is distracting. It's made even more obvious when this photograph is referenced early on by Phillip Prodger in his opening essay.William Eggleston's photographs are something of an acquired taste. Some people just don't "get" him while others worship his every photograph. I've been a longtime admirer of Eggleston's work although I've been critical of some relatively recent works. However, there is nothing in this book that I can fault.

Eggleston's work always hangs out at the edge of "Oh, Mom took a snap accidentally with the Polaroid" and absolute brilliance. You have to look at the photos long and hard, examining the shadows and lines, before you can see what he's managed to capture. The casual, almost throwaway family photo nature of his work soon fades, however, as you begin to see and dissect the composition of his work. He doesn't parody family photos, but he does take the idea out of the family album and into the gallery.

Initially, I struggled with Eggleston, but his work started to grow on me over time. This book is a very good collections of his work both black and white as well as color that really gave me an in-depth view of his work through a lens of "portrait". I found a few new favorites. I'll continue to study this one.

I am a serious Eggleston fan, many of the images in this book were familiar, some were new to me. The colors are excellent in their reproduction and printing. The foreword essay is interesting and should spark interest in Eggleston (not that he cares), but others do care.

The best images come straight from the Guide. The print quality is excellent and on a larger format than the Guide. The commentary and the interview at the end were helpful.

Amazing photos, great quality book

The backstories and identities of the people in the pictures made the already great pictures more interesting
