I really wanted to love this book. Holmes and Watson are such strong, unique characters and I couldn’t wait to spend more time with them - but it turns out, what I really wanted was for them to spend more time together. Which is something they do terribly little of in this book. Instead, they spend a lot of time wandering around separately, ruminating and moping and half-heartedly working on a “case” that feels small and childish after what happened in the previous book. Maybe that’s the point - they’re separately healing from some serious psychological wounds and not capable of doing more. But in many places, the story felt dreary to slog through, especially the first half.But when it’s good, it’s *so* good, which is why it’s still getting four stars from me. Jamie and Charlotte together are lightning, crackling off the page. Cavallaro has something really special with these characters and the world she has created - here’s hoping that she does something more interesting with them next time around.

I just love Jamie and Charlotte so much. I love the complexity of these characters and their relationship. I didn't like this installment as much as the second book but I still absolutely loved it. I liked a lot of the relationship conflict in this book, but I thought the mystery wasn't as exciting (that's not to say that it isn't good; I still had a great time reading). I'm beyond excited that there's going to be a fourth book. I need more of this in my life. Ugh, I just love it so much. PLS READ THIS SERIES. I know the concept sounds weird, but IT. IS. SO. GOOD.

Far too much teenage angst and living in both Jamie and Charlotte's heads. I did like the alternating chapters but there was very little action and next to no plot. It was all dark thoughts, self-flogging and pop psychology. I guess I'd hoped for more with the third book.

I used my Christmas gift cards to get this book and then I DEVOURED it! The stakes are high. Both of our MC’s are heart broken and their futures are hazy at best. Charlotte breaks my heart so many times. And Jamie, I don’t even know what I would have said to him if I could. The plot is clever and the twists, more so. And in the end, I was so very happy with how Cavallaro brought this installment to an end, I’m not sure I’m prepared to move on to the next book. I might float here a while. Savor where Watson and Holmes are at the moment. Definitely picking up the next one though, so I’ll have it when I’m ready!

Compelling and thrilling this is a great conclusion to one of my favorite series. The characters are so real and heartbreaking in the best ways. They all feel fully fleshed out and like their own person, from Charlotte and Jamie down to even the minor of characters. Cavallaro has such a talent for portraying mystery and youth and weaving them together perfectly. It has all the twists and turns of a Sherlock Holmes story with compelling characters that make the familiar feel fresh!

This book, this series! Sherlock Holmes is my all time favorite story/books, so naturally I was hesitant about this spin on the story, but from the first page of A Study in Charlotte I was hooked! This installment was all together nail biting, exciting, and just fantastic! Can't wait for the next book!

I absolutely adore this series. Ms. Cavallaro is a supremely brilliant author who has taken the renowned legacy of Sherlock Holmes and has given it new life with the modern and intoxicating prose that I have been waiting for. This third installment lives up to the suspense and veneration of the first two books and I am so grateful for the experience Ms. Cavallaro and her editors/publishers have provided me by publishing this awesome story line. I cannot WAIT for the next adventure of Jamie and Charlotte!

3.5 stars. That was a bit of a disappointment. I love this series but this story took foreverrrr to get moving. I was so bored I almost gave up. The last 100 pages finally made the story pay off and sped things up

Most of this book is bunk. I loved it as a kid, but now that I'm older and know more about the events it describes, I used the book to teach my kids about the influence of society at the time of a books writing (a book with a female protagonist will only be read by girls, and therefore must have romance) and the dangers of taking historical fiction novels as historical fact.

This was purchased for a book to read for school. We read it out loud at home so all siblings could enjoy it. This was a great historical fiction book that helps make history come alive for both children and adults. We have enjoyed all the Scott O'Dell books we have read so far. His writing style is such that it is hard to stop and put the book down once you start reading it. We have read several books that have received the Newbery Medal Award, which is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. We have not been disappointed by any books we have read with the Newbery Award or a runner-up Newbery Award. All have been great quality writing.

An easy and interesting read! A true gift to have the journals of Lewis & Clark available to use, so we can read of their amazing trek, and so gifted writers can bring those journals to life for us.

This author takes historical people and events and creates a story to go along with it. My son, who is 12, loves this author so much we have purchased every book written by him. They have kept his attention, and he has reread several. My son's time and energy going into a book instead of an electronic device, can't ask for much more!

Excellent story. I love the strength that the author gave Sacajawea. It was a clear look of strength in spirit, character and physical ability that she displayed. What a fantastic role model for our children, and especially our girls.

Quick and interesting easy read. The ending kind of leaves it just hanging, but overall a good book. Would be good for kids to read.

Although we still go back to family in Rochester, New York for agood part of the summer, weare permanent residents of Florida and consider this our own little"paradise," It is atruly unique place unlike anything we've ever seen. When we decided we wantedto move to a warm climate we explored a few areas of Florida (mainly theNaples/Bonita Springs area), and on a trip back decided to drive up through CentralFlorida. We ended up stopping for lunch inSpanish Springs which was at that time the only downtown area of The Villages.I remember Jean looking at all the people happily driving around in their golfcarts and saying, "These people are all so happy - they must be onsomething."A few months later we came back on one of the visitationpackages for a week and decided that this was where we wanted to make our home.And, voila, here we are. They call this Florida'sFriendliest Home Town and it definitely lives up to its name. I'm writingthis in part because it seems there is a lot of information lately that wouldhave you believe that The Villages is a place full of sex-crazed old peoplepopping Viagra pills and chasing each other around; and it is just not likethat at all. It's funny how fast a little saucy information travels. In realityThe Villages is chocked full of some of the nicest people you could ever meet.Hardy a week goes by without news of several 50 or 60 year wedding anniversaries and Villagers continually go out oftheir way to help each other out. It is an incredibly caring community! Thevoter turnout here is at 80% - the average Villager cares deeply about theircommunity and their country. This book is very informative and covers everything one needs to know and find out about The Villages, Fl. It is simply written and gives excellent detail into all the ways to improve your life in your retirement years. Lindsay Collier makes known all the positives about The Villages, since there has been some negative press about this friendly town.

Easy read, more like a book report. I should have saved the money and got the kindle version. But it is good for those wanting to know the basics about the villages. I think they should have added pictures.

Whereas the author could have definitely used some proofreading help (the book is fraught with typos) this in no way detracts from the actual content of the book which is an unapologetically enthusiastic review of his new hometown and all it has to offer.

Very good book a lot of information I was unable to find or get answers to by reaching The Villages directly. Was easy to read and got thru quickly, took tons of notes. Really enjoyed the authors humor in the book as well. If your looking at the The Villages to move to I feel this is a must read first.

I have spent some time investigating The Villages and was thrilled to find this book. I found out more information than I could have imagined. Not just about The Villages but Florida and "Things to Do" which also was awesome. Highly recommend this book!!!!!

I purchased Living Your Retirement Dreams and Growing Young in the Villages this morning. I read through it in a couple of hours. I found it very informative about the community. We weren't looking for a lot of opinion, more just information on what the Villages have to offer for retirement, and Lindsay delivered on what we were looking for.

Short read, but not everything I was looking for. I thought this was a going to be an updated release of "Inside the Bubble" but didn't take time to notice that the author was different...

I can't relate to these fandom books. I like movies and TV and (of course) books, but I don't think I've ever been so obsessed with any one series or franchise that I would cry for days when a character died. I definitely wouldn't devote the better part of a year to trying to bring the character back.I do understand the addiction to online interaction and the substitution of forums and chat for real world. However, although Gary was repugnant, I found myself agreeing with him when he called her a spoiled child and harangued her for ignoring her responsibilities. For one thing, her online activities had already torpedoed her scholarship and forced her mother to pay for her college and the kid doesn't even care. Trust me, if a kid in my home did that, they'd be working at least one job to help cover their tuition.This kid IS spoiled and she never grows out of it. She never apologizes to her mother for the way she acts, she never acknowledges the sacrifices her mother is making for her, she never admits she owes her mother a single thing. I found her attitude so perfectly typical of modern kids that she was almost impossible to root for. Even in her relationship with the love interest she is completely self-absorbed and selfish, greedily taking and taking and taking and never thinking about ways to give back.If this kid hadn't been such a spoiled brat, I would have loved this book despite my disinterest in fandom. But, even with my distaste for the main character, I enjoyed it, just not as much as I would have if she had grown up a little bit.

Spoiler alert!SPOILER ALERT!"All the Feels" by Danika StoneMy Rating: "R" for swearing, bad words, and suggestive themes.I finished reading the story but I have yet to finish the interview with the author on the back of the book.Cons: Swearing, bad words, and inappropriate scenes/dialogue. No glossary available, so some fandom slang is hard to know what it means.Pros: I LOVE the storyline!! I was hooked since the beginning and tried hard not to continue reading so I could go to sleep, LOL! Xander and Liv are the perfect couple in this book. I'm very impressed! This story has been very well planned and written. Liv might be annoying to some people who hate whiny teenagers, but I really enjoyed her attitude because I can kinda relate: I'm a hermit, hehe! And her only way she can socialize comfortably is by texting her friend and online friends. Throughout the story, I was screaming in my head to Liv and Xander: KISS KISS KISS!! And they finally do near the end. They were among their own people and an internship opportunity arrived for Liv. So her dreams came true. This book was so hard to put down, and the characters stick to your mind! A very addictive story!I would rate this book a 4 because of the cons I listed above, but the storyline was too good that I gave it a 5 star rating. :)

This novel is a must read for anyone involved in a fandom. Danika Stone creates a wonderful world that is easy for readers to immerse themselves in, because the world is so similar to their own. Many teenagers like myself have been involved in some sort of fandom obsession at some point in their lives, whether that obsession centered around a person, movie, book, or all three. I found it extremely easy to relate to Liv. I’m not a college freshman yet, (although I will be this fall!) but I loved how this book wasn’t revolving on the fact that Liv attended college. It created a nice sense of normalcy and I loved that the book was focused on and explored other aspects of Liv’s life. Her relationship with her best friend Xander was portrayed exceptionally well.Danika’s writing style is amazing. Occasionally in young adult contemporaries that are written in third person, the connection between the reader and the main character can get lost because we aren’t directly inside the lead characters head; this was not this case in ‘All the Feels’. Her writing style makes reading effortless. I believe that if an author’s writing style is the best when as I’m reading, I don’t even notice the style at all. I was so wrapped up in the story that I was able to see it play out in my head as I was reading, almost like my own personal movie instead of just reading words on a page. Danika possesses a great talent for connecting with her audience through her writing.Liv’s talent of video editing really intrigued me, because I really want to work in the film industry after college (more specifically, translating books to visual media!), but really Liv is just a relatable character to me in general. Her personality is very similar to my own. She’s not a cliché character by any sense of the word; neither is Xander. Both of them are so dynamic and distinctly their own, and stand out from other contemporary romance characters I’ve encountered over the years. I didn’t want the book to end! Although I’ve never attended a con myself, they seem like a fangirl’s dream. This book definitely makes me want to go! We all can relate to wanting to change canon–especially when a beloved character is killed off. Liv represents and does what we all wish we could do. (Plus Xander’s girlfriend is named Arden, and that’s my twin sister’s name! It’s rare to find it used in books, so that was awesome!)There’s so much more I would love to go on and on about, but I’ll start to talk about spoilers! All I can do is encourage you all to go out and buy this book as soon as possible. You won’t regret it!
