*Warning: There are graphic sex scenes in this story.*Even though it has GameLit in the title it’s also LitRPG. It has tabletop character sheets, stats, and leveling. The story portion is wish fulfillment harem. The main character, Dan, wishes for his life to be like the fantasy tabletop game he plays with his friends, full of action, adventure, and busty women that want him. Only when he does get his wish and becomes a level 1 barbarian, he finds the normal world and all the people he knew have merged with the rules of the fantasy tabletop game. That hot girl down the hall, is now even hotter and a druid. The MC goes on adventures, becoming the adventure seeking person he always wanted to be and having lots of sex along the way.Overall, it’s an entertaining, light hearted, funny read. There is quite of bit of sex, which I skipped over, but even ignoring that, it’s kind of just a fun story.Score: 7.1 out of 10

Just finished this one and already preordered the second! The action begins right away. Dan is just a normal, average college kid, and his world is flipped upside down. I will try not to spoil anything, but after a fortunate meeting, his world changes dramatically.I really enjoyed the take on the actual world/beings in that world change, instead of being transported to a new land. It was fun to watch the personalities in Dan’s old world, transfer to some in the new world.Dan meets the beautiful Holly (who lives across from him) and is instantly enamored by her beauty and abilities. Their relationship is fun to watch develop. My only wish is that there was some more backstory to Holly to really get to know her character better. Although it sounds like book 2 will address this. When they team up for the competition, the author did a great job of picking unique personalities. Zuggy, the chess playing monkey, being one of my favorites. The action really starts picking up as they progress through the competition. The battle at the end is a must read! It is intense and has some awesome twists and turns!Note: There is a lot of sex in this book. I don’t agree with the reviewer that said the women have to make Dan’s decisions for him. And I am not sure about the “one at the time” part of the review, because they must not have read that part in the book. While the explicit sex is not something that I gravitate toward in books, it was well written, and actually adds to the story, building the rapport with his women, and lends to the whole, living out your fantasy if given the chance aspect of this book. The humor throughout the book is great. The character, Wulfgar (Dan’s sword), had to be my favorite. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 with this character. His foul mouthed humor was well written and had me laughing throughout the book.I was actually expecting this book to have more stats/LItRPG aspects, but I would say it definitely falls into more Gamlit. Not to say there isn’t experience and skills gained/earned though. This is not a bad thing by any means, just wanted to throw that out there if you are looking for more detailed stat progression. In the end, read this book! You will not regret it, and I bet you will be ready to move on to the second just as I was.

I loved this book it was a fun read from start to finish. I had a lot of little laughs as I could do see some of the games I played in the past in this book. Pick it up and give it a try if you loved p!saying RPG tabletop games.

I enjoyed the book for the most part. The worldbuilding is awesome, all the parallels between our world and the Wished one are great; and the little changes between them are very funny (for example having "Advanced Drudgery & Dullards" in the Wish world crack me up!). The plot is very straightforward, but is ok. Sometimes it felt a little rushed; I believe that the Author could have develop the story a little more, give more details and let the characters interact a little more before throwing them to the main plot. The MC is very likable, but he doesn’t have much development, in some moments he appears a little on the dumb side (apparently is a Barbarian trait); in a moment he is attacking rage-blinded and fails, realize that he has to think before attack the next time and five pages latter is attacking like an idiot again. The rest of the characters are very interesting, but again they could improve with a little more time and development. I understand that this is the first of many books, but to me having some development in each is very important. Overall, I recommend this book and will keep reading the series to see where it goes.

It had a great story and pacing. It made me laugh many times. Loved the characters and their interactions with one another. Dan is one lucky guy in the lady department. Both of them were smoking hot. I mean, who doesn't love an elf? *grin* I can't wait to see what kind of trouble his group gets into next time. Thanks for a great read!

Really enjoyed the story and the main characters evolution from shy guy that won't stick up for himself to a confident barbarian.

Ever wish that D&D game was real, or that you could fall into the action like the kids in the old cartoon? Dan does, especially with his least favorite professor actively seeking his demise, or the beautiful co-ed across the hall he can't bring himself to speak to tempting him. Then out of all of us, he gets his wish. Now there is no turning back.Great start to a great series. At times an adult Harry Potter, in other times a throwback to early pulp fantasy adventure. Read this book.

If anyone has ever played an RPG, tabletop or otherwise, then you've always wondered about living the life of your character. Hondo has created a series in which, through the adventures of Dan, we get to experience the potential ups and downs of what that dream would be like. Although, I am quite curious to see how the series ends and if our resident genie ends up playing more of a significant role later on. Otherwise, it was a great read and can't wait to see what other surprises await our barbarian.
