This book is a gentle slope for those learning Hindi. As such, it gives the learner time to grasp the essence of the language and build a strong foundation on which to further progress. As many language learners know, compared to the major European languages and Japanese (and now Chinese), resources for many other languages are limited in both quality and quantity. The situation with Hindi is starting to change with the appearance of books such as this one and Delacy's Elementary Hindi, both of which teach Hindi in a systematic way with proper exercises and grammatical explanations. No doubt this book will provide a great foundation for intermediate Hindi study.There is one problem with this book. I believe it is a significant problem. It doesn't negate the other good qualities of this book, which is why it still deserves 4 stars. Nonetheless, it is hard to use Hindi without knowledge of the normal past tense, as opposed to the past imperfect ("used to"). This book only talks about the past imperfect (I used to eat) and does not convey how to make a simple past sentence such as "I went." Now, this is related to a particle in Hindi that is often used with the past, "ne" which is probably one of the most difficult aspects of Hindi grammar for a beginner to grasp. However, it is not a nuance that can be delegated to a more advanced level since it is difficult to use any language without conjugating verbs in the past tense and this is simply the one aspect of Hindi grammar that one must slog through in order to grasp Hindi. Personally, I wish the past tense were included in this book, so that the habituation of students to it could begin, sooner rather than later.

I'm not very far into the book, but it's exactly what I was looking for and at a great price.I want to learn both how to read and speak Hindi, and not just a few survival phrases. Most resources I found either taught a few sentences with only transliteration, or they taught only the alphabet.Many of the more modern language learning approaches (e.g. DuoLingo) lack Hindi support. There are subscription websites which provide a sea of material, but they are pricey, and the material is presented almost exclusively in an unwieldy PDF format. I tried those for a while, but I didn't always want to sit down at a computer to learn, and it's hard to flip back and forth compared to a physical book.So that's why I say this is the best resource I've found. It's easy to sit down every day and do five to ten minutes of work to keep one's skills moving forward, but also to dive into longer learning sessions. I'm still supplementing with other materials like podcasts, particularly for pronunciation, but this book will be the foundation of my basic Hindi education.

I've been a rather isolated Hindi learner for a couple years now. This book was perfect for the home learner. When I got to the end of the 25 lessons, I felt I'd had a friend to help me.Basic Hindi doesn't pamper the learner with glossary. Rather, one has to go searching for vocabulary already presented in the book--a useful process for anyone learning of a foreign language.I especially appreciated that I could keep all my materials for the 25 lessons right in one text book. In classes I've had and with a couple teachers, I've ended up with stacks of papers that have to be later sorted out. No extra paper is required for Basic Hindi.This is a good and useful approach. Some of the explanations are the best I've had so far.

This is a great book. It explains and has exercises to learn the basics of Hindi. I came to Hindi from Sanskrit and the latter is challenging, to say the least. I have used a number of books and many gave information but did not have a method to learn it. I decided that any book that can teach that Sanskrit alphabet (which Hindi uses) in a clear, understandable, and fun way is well worth the cost and attention. I got interested in Hindi after watching the Disney show "Best Wishes Nikki," which is a Hindi version of "Good Luck Charlie." If you want to learn Hindi, this is your book.

Fantastic book for beginners, the content inside is useful, structured, and most importantly, correct. I would recommend supplementing this book with some form of video or audio to help with speaking and pronunciation, as a book simply can't teach those things, especially for the letters that are completely foreign to an English speaker.

Really good for Beginner learners. This has been very helpful for learning Hindi on my own. Very recommended. Use this with an alphabet writing practice book and its been great.

I've been trying to learn hindi recently. I have bought a few paper backs as well as 3-4 e-books on hindi. So far this is my favorite. It seems more comprehensive than others and has exercises so you actually apply and remember what they talk about.

I really enjoy reading books from Mark Wayne McGinnis. His writing style keeps you interested and wanting to read more. I always wanted to be the person picked up by aliens and have the adventures like Cameron and the Ship Wrecked series let's me.

As is typical with MWM books, it’s all about the characters and Ship Wrecked II is no exception..I can’t wait for episode 3 to release..

All of McGinnis's books are extremely enjoyable reading. This series takes the reader from their earth comfort zone and throws them into a universe of infinite realities. As usual in his writings he involves the reader in his characters with very believable descriptions that leads them into emotional involvement.Very enjoyable, I look forward his next book.

This is another great story by a very good author. This book is a sequel to the first Ship Wrecked and sets the stage well for the third in this series! If you are a fan of science fiction, this is a must read

I have read most of this authors books and have enjoyed all of them. This one is no exception. Fun and with a good fast pace that keeps you interested. This series is totally worth reading. But I would say that about any of his books.The next in the series can't come fast enough! Hurry please! LOL

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it had a couple of slow spots but overall I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

This was far more than the coffee table book I expected. I ordered the book months ago from Tory Burch because I am a self-admitted Tory-phile. I love her clothes, shoes and purses so much that I need a special Burch room in my house. She has such a sense of style and color for someone so young, and she is clearly an accomplished businesswoman.This fascinating book does contain many pictures, but it is also filled with narrative. What a interesting life Tory led. I knew she came from a Main Line family, but I had no idea who her parents are. Now I understand why she names her clothing. All the ballet shoes are named after her mother, a ballerina for years.For anyone who likes Tory Burch, I highly recommend this book. And what a great gift it would make!

I had hoped this would be more about Interior Design - My fault I guess. Given the design chops of her own apartment plus her friendship with the likes of Miles Redd and others, just thought that would be more prevalent in the book. I'm not interested in her vacation photos, etc.. I have my own. Still - nice photos to a point.

This book is lovely and inspirational. Tory is a beautiful brand pushing color and entrepreneurial vision. Not only is this beautiful on your coffee table but also on the business woman’s desk.

I was in a frantic mood trying to find something to put under the tree for my aunt and her two girls whom are all consumed with the fashion bug. I got several of these types of coffee table fashion books and they were the hit of Christmas. These are great gifts when you have no idea what to get.

I love coffee table books and couldn't wait until I receive Tory Burch's "In Color". Each section is divided into chapter's by color. She not only has great pictures for inspiration, there's a birdeye's view into her childhood and drink recipes. I read the entire book front to back before posted my reviewing and I can definitely say it was well worth the money. Plus I purchased it at discount from the price available on her website, so that was a bonus.

Purchased this as a gift but ended up keeping it for myself (sounds so narcissistic!). I was mesmerized by what an absolutely fabulous book this is! Brilliant colors, beautifully inspiring photos, and magical creativity on each page! Perfect effortlessly chic coffee table book!

What a fabulous book - very beautiful, a wonderfully inspiriing story and some fun recipes - Tory shared herself in this book and I could feel it! The design inspiration was over the top! I'm gifting another to my daughter!

The book was okay, not a lot of depth but beautiful colors and patterns. Glad I bought it used.

Monica is off on another adventure solving a crime. She along with the other attendees of a Romp-A-Roo game watch in horror as the goalie for the opposing team had an awful accident. Strange things are going on in Wysteria and big changes are afoot. Together with her sister Mona, her friend Holly and her familiar Abigail they find the truth. Excellent story and so imaginative. Love the characters and cannot wait for the next book. So many questions to still be answered!

The plot keeps your attention and the details about the different mystics are great. Cannot wait for the next book in this series. The little grumpy attitude of Abigail is enlightening and very lifelike.

Great mystery! Wonderful read and awesome characters! I can’t wait to read book 5. Keep writing this series and I will keep reading them.

Love this series. The characters are great and you can get lost in the mystical realm.

Or did he? Monica and Abigail need to figure out what happened, and quickly. Not only is Mona heartbroken over her loss, but inter-species relations in the mystic community are in danger of being sabotaged by a resurgent group from old Salem up to no good in the current mystic world. Once again, the ending is so quick, so complete, so final that I was chagrined to realize that the book had ended while my head was still spinning. Nonetheless, I recommend this book because of its humor, its solid ethics, and its engaging characters.

This is Book 4 of the Back Room Bookstore Cozy Mystery. As always, the book does not disappoint. Instead, the reader is transported into two different worlds connected through a back door. The intriguing plot makes the book difficult to put down and even if you think it's over at the end, there are still many unanswered questions that motivate you to anticipate the next book in the series.I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

f you enjoy reading paranormal mysteries then this one is a must read. Monica and Mona are twin mystics. Mona has more power than her sister but they compliment each other.They decide to go to a Romp A Roo game so that Mona could watch her boyfriend play. Tragedy strikes during the game. Its a quick read and one I am sure you will enjoy as much as I did.

Great series. The characters are fascinating and interesting. The human and mystic towns are well described and thought-provoking. I want to move to Wysteria. Abagail steals the show as usual and keeps Monica and the gang on the tail of the killers. Really enjoy this series and look forward to each new book.
